5 Ways Sobriety Has Improved My Life
1. My relationship with God - I spend every sober morning with a prayer and a gratitude list. It has taught me to "Be Still and Know That He is God", and listen for His voice.
2. Relationships - I no longer have to avoid calls from friends and family members like I did when I was in active addiction, because I was doing things I was ashamed of.
3. My health - recovery prompted me to seek out ways to support my brain and body in my sobriety and healing. This led me to the Ketogenic diet, which has dramatically reduced my craving not only for carbs and sugar, but for drugs and alcohol. (See following blog post for ways Keto can help your recovery!)
4. My Career - recovery inspired me to become an entrepeneur so I would never be "unemployed" again, or get fired or lose a job. It is one of the most challenging yet rewarding thing I have embarked upon. InspiringSobriety.com and KetoQueencity.com were born as a result!
5. My financial health - in active addiction, I jokingly say "I was putting my FICO score up my nose" for years. Being conscious of my finances and and overall yearning to be financially healthy and a trustworthy person financially, has helped me take action to improve my credit standing, and contribute to the community, including charitable giving, and taking care of my children (child support.)
